I added the hearts and covered them with glossy accents to give a glaze look and the stamp I chose just happened to fit in there. I am pleased with how this came out. Ok - where has the month of January gone?? I can not believe it's slipped away so fast we are almost to the end - wow. We have been having some crazy weather in the pacific northwest so I am so ready for spring to come, but it just seems that the months are going so fast.

Good news we have power .. It came back on last night so that is sweet. We went with out for about 40 hours, we used the generator only at night for a few hours as we only had a little gas. It's been raining a lot since last night so the snow was down to about 5 inches in the driveway so today we were finally able to leave the house and we got three 5 gal. gas cans and filled them so we are ready but sure hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon. That sucks..I don't now how the mid west and east coast manage. Really feel for those other states that get slammed. I am sure glad I had my craft room with big windows and the bright snow did help with light.. LOL

This is for the challenge over at crafters digital art center challenge #10 tag cdacpc10, bug..
I got some cards made today as we are snowed in. My work which never closes (government agency) has been closed for the last two days..I live an hour from work so no way I could make it even if it was open. Our driveway is over 40 feet long and I couldn't even get my car out. Hubby tried and got suck about 2 feet from the garage.. Not going anywhere.. so I spent the daylight hours making cards as we are with out power too. It went out at 6:30a.m. and still not on as of 4:30p.m. thank goodness for our generators so I can at least cook dinner and upload my cards.

This is a lovely lady from Bugaboo so of course I had to use the free image for the challenge. This was a saying of Bugaboo's that I had for another image. The chair I colored then used a pti small stamp and stamped off then stamped on the chair to give it a pattern, love the way it came out.

This is Marshmallow..darling little guy in the marshmallows.. umm I love marshmallows and today would be a good day to have some nice hot chocolate and marshmallows as it snowed Sunday and we got about 4 inches. I am glad today is a holiday so I don't have to slide my way to work and hope it's gone or close to it by Tuesday..

Saturday January 7, 2012 Unscripted Sketches Saturday sketchhttp://unscriptedsketches.com/ Good day and I hope your off to a great start for the new year.. For a short week at work it sure seemed like a long week. We had a quiet new year and just laid low and hoped that the fireworks would not upset the 4 legged kids. They pulled through pretty good. Boy living in the country I can hardly say they were firework though..those that live in the country probably know what I'm talking about.
For today's card I chose to bring on some nice sunny, warm, bright colors I am so tired of gray.. I was not sure what to come up with for the sketch but after thinking awhile I pulled this together and am rather pleased on how it came out. I think it would be great for a valentine, anniversary or just I love you because card.

January 1, 2012 HAPPY NEW YEAR..

This card I made using two digi images. I used The Greeting Farm body of Handy Ian, and the head of Catch the bug..kpt girl with pigtails.. I just had to try this. I did the images as whole images and cut them out and added the head to the body vs. trying to make as one and print as one.. I love the way it came out and its a new way of using your digital or even rubber/acrylic stamps.

This is another birthday card for a dear boy who I consider my grandson. He's my son's girlfriends son.. I kinda thought I knew what I wanted to do but not sure if I pulled off the look. I am not excited about the card but I do like it. I hope he likes it.. he'll be 16 so who know what kind of card they would like at that age.. sure a car more than a card..

Well Christmas is over it was a wonderful quiet day. It would of been better if the children hadn't moved to other states or being out of town. All in all it was nice though and being off work of course is wonderful. Today I spent a wonderful day with my crafting friend Karen. She came over to play in my craft room. Always a wonderful time when we get together.
I took time today to get some cards done for birthdays and a challenge. This one is for the progressive challenge #9 over at Crafters Digital Art Center. This image is cdacpc9, JSL, and the snow globe is from crafty Ann's. I had never put a digital into another one and if it was luck then OK great because I did it and had no problem. I will have to give this a try again.

I have some snow looking tinsel that I used for the snow and snow looking flakes I did not want to do too many beings the background paper has snowflakes on it so did a few around the snowman. I'm thinking they should of been smaller but the tinsel is small foil looking circles and small just did not look right beings the tinsel is what it is..

I had to use Scarlotte for this as she is quite feminine and used some girly girl colors. I also just today got this cool paper pad (with the holly on it) from Basic gray and knew I had to use it. I would of used more but it just took away from the image when I tried. I really love basic gray papers (and cosmo cricket) they seem to be the ones to go for or maybe it's just cause I see them more while online shopping ..

Phew.. I am caught up.. Day 7 of 12 days of Christmas at Catch the bug.. http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/ today's challenge is the photo on the blog it's of a swan, colors red, white, green and brown.. I chose to use the color as the challenge vs. the swan.. I tried to make it look like Santa was on the roof but after I was done it kind of looked like he was on a box/chest.. oh well I think the chimney helps make it look more like a house roof top with cedar shingle roof.. I used a white ink and my cloud template to give the cloud illusion since it was kind of night time..

I'm a little behind on posting for the challenge over at catch the bug http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com for their 12 days of Christmas challenges.. I am on day 5 and it was to use gold. Well the bear is holding a gold ornament in real life it's very gold but the camera just does not do it justice. I used a gold liquid paint I did not want to do it too thick as I did not want the warp look. The background paper is also gold even tho it has a little green tinge on the computer and of course the gold ribbon..

TIP: I have flat (about an inch deep)12x9 clear plastic cases that I keep all my digi's in that I have printed for future use. I keep each digi company in a separate case so that they don't get mixed up. Printing them ahead of time helps with the ink drying and also for that quick card you might need the image is ready to be colored..

It's Tuesday and it's new release at Catch the bug http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/ and today is the prim angel. Fun little guy/gal to color and I like making small cards so kept it small. That's one thing I like about digi's is that you make it the size you want not the size the stamp is. Now don't get me wrong that I don't like stamps/rubber because I have a craft room full of them but it's just nice to be able to size the digi's for when you just need that smaller image of the certain image. Any how I love the bright colors of this little one.

Well I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.. and today you got into some nice elastic waistband pants and got to veg all day and cyber shop... We went to my sons home which he lives a couple hours away unless you try to go on a holiday then it doubles the time.. I don't know how I lived in the big city for so many years.. I sure am spoiled living in the country and small town life. Although I did see some stores up there that we don't have here. By my sons they put in a Hobby Lobby.. Only time I have ever been in one is in Missouri when I have visited and that is about every 10-15 yrs..and I loved it.. that does not cut it in my book.. All in all it was a great time and the usual 2.5 hr drive home so that was nice. I did not make it out for black Friday. I never have tried it and after seeing the news today I don't see myself ever doing it.. how crazy some can get.

With the cold and rainy days I'm back in the craft room making cards.. I have a lot to do for DT sketches coming up but wanted to get a few cards done that I can use now for challenges. I saw a chance to do black and white challenge and knew exactly what image I wanted to use. Took a few tries to get the layers so that the butterfly stood out but also make it pleasing and layered. I love dies and it was fun to put a lot of them to use for this layout.

Catch the bug challenge http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/ It's in the pocket..pocket card. I am excited to see what you all come up with..

OK this is a new one for me but oh how it was fun to make this pocket. I saw a tutorial on how to make and fold it. It does unfold if need be but not necessary. I glued the flower and leaves on the front so mine will not open. You can see the next photo down the card that is tucked inside.. Isn't Stella a hoot.. What a sassy old broad. The card inside is a regular 4.25 x 5.5 in size. I like this idea and good use of some of those thinner designer 12x12 papers.. (of course you cut it down to size but you do need 2- 12 inches strips )

TIP: when you have a digi (or any stamped image) and your paper is too small for the die try to line it up best you can to make it even and cut it out anyhow - you might like the different cut you get.. worse thing is you'd just have to print out the image again or stamp it.

TIP: If you can't find a flower to go with your card - make your own..see my tutorial

I chose three punches, you can also cut out circles, I choose to use two large, three middle size and two small circles.. but you can use more or less. It's your flower. It's best to use a good card stock or designer paper. Sometimes the lighter weight will rip when you wet them.

with water I mist the pieces and scrunch them up being careful not to tear. Also some card stocks run so scrunch the lighter colors first then move on to the darker colors so they don't bleed.

open carefully and dry with heat tool. When fully dry if you want you can take a distress tool and go around the edges.

I stack the largest, then middle circle ending with smallest and with piercing tool punch hole in center to add brad

At this time you can adhere to your card OR you can scrunch the flower

I start with the smallest and scrunch around the brad, then next layer and next and next till you come to the bottom circle.

then carefully open the flower and scrunch to desired shape. Now adhere to your card. I love these flowers for masculine cards as they are not frilly. If you use the designer paper for the masculine card your making it works out great. I think you will enjoy the simplicity of this flower. Changing the brad will also give a different look to the flower. I hope you give it a try.

This card is for the Progressive challenge at Crafters Digital Art Center ... I know I said that the last card I added the elephant with presents was the last one..but they decided if you were done there was another you could enter and so I went for it. I love the soft colors.. dear hubby said it just doesn't have a pop of color kind of bland.. but I said I thought it needed to be soft so I went for the soft colors. I guess I could of made the die cut forever a little darker as seeing it here it is outstanding as it is in real life but take my word for it it is darker and stands out more in real.. I was happy with it. I wanted a ribbon on it but just not the room and if I made the digi smaller you'd loose too much from the image. TIP: when making your background and it looks a little bare in places take a matching pen and try to fill. When I was stamping the string of stars there was a long line that did not have the little square part to attach the star, so I took a black pen and drew in the little rectangles and then stamped the star.. Can you tell where I did it? It is viewable ; )

Well - winter is just around the corner.. I am not ready for this as I am a summer - warm weather person but that is the way it goes in the pacific NW. We do have our four seasons which I do like but I'm more a spring/summer person but I must say it's fun making winter cards.

Well this card is for the Crafters Digital Art Center progressive challenge #6.. the final challenge. I have had a blast making these cards over the past few months giving the digi's life with inks and paper. I love this little guy.. tag is cdacpc6, d2d What a darling polar bear I thought he /she looked like they were having fun sliding down a hill so that is the way I set the scene tearing papers to give a hill look and the pine branches.

I think I am getting a little better at doing easel cards. I only had to put the front page on two times before I got it right.. duh to me.. TIP: when you cut out the image going close to the black line of the image you will always have a little white showing.. Take a black marker and go around the outline of the image so that it covers the white then it looks like you have a closer cut.. cleans it up really nice. On this one I did that but also glued her to the black background and cut around that so it's hard to see but the darker black is the cut image.

I thought it was time for a Get Well Soon card. This was fun coming up with the colors for the challenge and I thought the middle design needed a colored butterfly vs. the black one that is included on the stamp image. It kind of gives a shadow look.. I like it.. I'm on the design team so cant submit it but I will find others to fit it into..I hope. TIP: when you use your dies keep the negative part of the die as you can get some unusual cuts.. I used the negative part of the die from the fence (I had cut the fence in orange then did not like it so cut it green) I used the orange negative part on the left side of my card off polka dots.

Challenge at Southern Girls - using polka dots / stripes..http://southerngirlschallenge.blogspot.com/ Gee remember when you were growing up you shouldn't wear stripes or polka dots together like a polka dot blouse with a strip skirt.. well when it comes to our cards it looks awesome I love mixing patterns it really brings interest to the cards. Catch the bug challenge - Home coming dance/school colors http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/ Well I went to two different High Schools, first one was Lincoln Hi in Seattle and the school colors are black and red.. then our boundary changed and I went to Ingraham Hi and those colors were gray and blue.. Well I like black and red better so that is what I chose.. This is another darling image from Catch the bug.. Margaret is almost as sassy as Stella I love all their images all have a different feel.. Tip: When you just can not find the right ribbon - layer the ribbons so you get the effect you really want. I put the black and white gingham on top of the solid red. We all seem to have a large stash of ribbons, make it work for you.

This is the card I made using Hugh TGF image and assorted papers. the die is from MFT and copics.

TIP: When adding designer paper with a design on it, go ahead and run it through an embossing folder as I did the star paper I ran it through a star embossing folder (but it could be any design) it just gives an extra texture to an already pretty paper. I then lightly dusted it with an ink pad to bring out some of the embossed area.

Sketch challenge at The Sweet Stop - using the sketch and let's recycle - http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/ For this darling Stella card I used as a recycle the pop pull tabs & the flowers are from some old silk flowers my mom had. When she passed away I couldn't throw them away so I brought them home and took them apart and put them in a jar in the craft room. Perfect time to use them the leaves are also from some silk flowers torn apart.
Another cute image from Catch the bug Stella -peekers retirement.. but I used the words as if she was still working... What a funny lady her and Gus are my all fav's.
