Happy Memorial Weekend for you in the USA.  Hope you all have a fun safe weekend. We are staying home as usual and just enjoy time away from the rush. I am recovering from surgery I had on May 14th so moving very slow. I hope to maybe get some cards made but we'll see.

This is the card I made for sketch #212.  I saw this paper and thought this would be perfect for a miss you card.  I have this cross hatch large background stamp I don't use enough. I love the look as it's not over powering and gives just the right touch.

Wednesday is new challenge day at Paper Pretties  #259 USE YOUR FAVORITE STAMP and also new release day. Today we have FEATHER as the new release. Cute huh?

 

 So today I chose to use as a favorite stamp this RIGHT ON PAR by of course Paper Pretties, it was hard to choose as there are so many wonderful stamps and digi's but figured with fathers day coming and my brothers birthday and he loves to play golf this would be perfect card for his birthday. I really like how this card came out. I have a punch which is just a series of holes in a row. I got it super cheap and have wondered why did I buy this? It's worthless so I took it out and punched these 3 circles over on the left side of the brown. I like the size of the circles and I like the touch with out bling as it needed something over there. Do you ever have tools you don't know why you bought other than they were cheap and haven't used?  I am sure I am not the only one out here that does that.

I made this card for a co-worker and dear friend. I saw this technique by Dawn McVey and loved the idea and had to try it. I will be doing more of this. I did not dry emboss the white paper as she did and next time I may try it, I do love how it came out though. What you do is take refill ink in colors you think work well together.. drip a few drops (behind the sentiment) and take a drinking straw and blow it in a direction you want, then take another color and drip it in the same area and again the straw and so on and so forth till your please with what you have. Then use the sentiment to cover the glob of inks you want to blow dry or set aside to dry. I used su and ranger refills, pti stamp and die, te die, su die, ribbon, su card base,  su scraps, string of pearls and blue ink

Today's new release at Paper Pretties and the image is called SNUGGLY WUGGLY awhhh isn't that cute. Great for a mothers / fathers day card.

 

 Now for this weeks challenge it's to use COLORED PENCILS and that is what I did. I use to use colored pencils all the time then found out about copics.. well it felt good to get back into the pencils for this card. I used the image Happy Bird-day and think it came out pretty good.

Catch the bug Free Friday BOAT DUCKIE

The duck has such a cute face, love the look and thought would make a nice summer birthday card I had some leftover pieces from other projects on my desk so made the sun using PTI dies and stamp and then a circle die to get the right size needed. I like the look. Kinda thought the other paper look like water.  My blog loading and writing is driving me crazy it does not want to work tonight. Things are being double spaced and I don't know why or how to fix it. So sorry this looks crazy.

I chose some great soft colors of pink and green and found this wonderful brad by Teresa Collins which was perfect for the card and I like where I added it to the banners. The words are digi Paper Pretties. I wanted this for a birthday card.   I hope you play along at Paper Pretties.

 Friday at Catch the bug is Free Friday digi. Today we have CUTE BEE FLOWER

I love the large flower it's holding. Kind of reminds me of "bugs life" love that movie.

I used Washi tape for the background giving it a bee look.. I am loving Washi tape. I used the su ornament punch and embossed the words on it, hid the top of the ornament under the other die. Kind of gives me a bee butt look. What ya think?

This is the last card I made for ladies retreat. There are four cards posted for the retreat. We had a husband and wife speaker at our ladies retreat at Seaside Oregon. I already posted the lady speakers and this is the card I made for the man. At church retreat there is a lot of singing, praying and sermons. I knew that Sandy sang and has a cd out and her husband Jay plays the guitar so this is what I came up with for a man card. I was really pleased how it came out. The stamp set is from Simon Says, music 2 my ears... the ink is su, the die cut music notes  mft, assorted dp scraps, the mesh was from a craft store dollar bin. I love how the card came out and sure hope everyone enjoyed their cards.

I went to a ladies retreat with my church this past weekend to Seaside Oregon. I made a card for both speakers and this is the one I made for the lady speaker. It was a lovely retreat, the weather was off and on rain but gee just to look at the ocean from your hotel room it did not matter. I am so glad we live close to the ocean. It's only about 160 miles from my home to where we went.

this card I used PTI die and stamp set, and viva pearl pen. Ink SU. I love this card paper is bazzill.

Again a church retreat card. This is the card I made for my best friend and our 5th year of going to the church retreat. Plus she is a neighbor, past co worker, crafter and dear dear friend. We have so much fun together. Our favorite colors are green and we love butterflies. I made this card for her.

Wednesday is Paper Pretties #255 new challenge. This week is TRY A NEW FOLD

 

First let me introduce you to a new digi set. This is Dorris. Cute little duck great sentiments. Sure you could use this for quite a few different occasions.

 

This is my try on a new fold card. I saw this card tutorial on Dawn Olchefske twist fold fun card. I loved the idea and with this being the challenge for a new fold card I had to try it. Her directions and video are easy to follow. If I can do it you can too. I did find using a better quality card stock helped. Some crack when you score and fold so be careful. I stamped a tag and put "surprise" across it but forgot to remove it when I took the photo. I used Trio Ladybugs

 

This is the inside of the card. Perfect for some money or a gift card.  I will be making this card again.

Tuesday's at Catch the bug means it's new release day. We have a cutie and perfect Mothers day card, thinking of you, miss you image,  etc.. AKV smell flower  girl. Isn't she cute?

I had all sorts of scraps on my desk and in a couple of containers on my desk so dug through and used the other half of the su die, an extra heart from another project, the reddish punch piece on the left side. I love using scraps. Oh the leaves are from a pile of leaves I cut months and months ago.

This is the card that I did for the sketch. I decided to use some dies and punches for my card. I have this die from MFT that I've been waiting to use and thought OK, what am I going to put in this square and thought OK it doesn't really need to be a square just a focal point of your choice. So I chose to use the umbrella, then stamped this cool sentiment at the bottom. See the heart? well for some reason I got a spot of ink up there and the hearts covered it perfect and added a nice touch to the card. I hate when mistakes happen but love when they turn out and compliment the card too.
So I hope you play along and follow the sketch as close as you can, I showed you how I took the sketch and made it work for me.

April calendar page

I wanted to share a calendar page I made. There is a group of girls, most of them live in Wisconsin but a few of us live in Washington state. We choose a month or two and do what ever we want. This year I chose April and Sept. I then get two wonderful calendars to enjoy all year. I keep one at work and one at home. It's so much fun to enjoy every one's wonderful design for a whole month. This is one of twelve identical pages I made before I sent them to Wisconsin for them to be spiral bound with every one's monthly pages and then two are sent back to me.

I used my cloud template, ranger ink, su paper, pti stamps, su ink and su punch, dcwv dp.
